"This piece is constructed out of two improvisation sessions. one with an acoustic piano somewhere in 2015 and the other is all electronics from 2019. The original length of the recordings were about 60min+- and from there I took a few small parts and placed them together to create a story or actually two stories that are jumping between one another. like an interrupted thought. I hope that you find it not too disturbing"
Grave Dohl - Cooking Like An Idiot
Cooking like an idiot is an EP that should be listened to the way you watch a skateboard slams video while eating a plate of pasta, with a mix of silliness and kindness. After a few years of gentle cruise in the world of dream pop with Dolphin Flight, some digital experimental rituals with Animal Sweatshirt, the time had come for Luc Grandemange aka Grave Dohl to wander again in a more dirty and organic universe, to come back to something that smells like warm beer and dilettantism, even though romanticism never is gone very far (some kind of flowers grow better in trash). Composed with heart and roughly recorded with the help of Romain Savary in a small rehearsal room in Fribourg, this mini-album is an ode to the frying pan, a drunken wander in a public yard, a stoned baseball match between Kurt Cobain and Tom DeLonge, a friendly scribble in which we put all of our devotion. We cherished its wobbliness and embraced its imperfections, because as you know, in music as in love, everything is a matter of acceptation. And thus, if you can’t cook or play drums, this album will always be there to tell you that it's okay.
